Lithium Battery BMS
Voltage Monitoring: The BMS continuously monitors the voltage of
each individual cell within the battery pack. It ensures that no
cell exceeds the safe voltage limits during both charging and
discharging.
Current Monitoring: The BMS measures the current flowing into and
out of the battery pack. It prevents overcurrent conditions that
could damage the cells or other components.
Temperature Monitoring: The BMS monitors the temperature of the
battery pack to prevent overheating and thermal runaway. It may
include temperature sensors or use external temperature inputs.
Cell Balancing: The BMS can perform cell balancing, which
redistributes charge among individual cells to ensure that they
have similar voltage levels. This helps to maximize the overall
capacity and lifespan of the battery pack.
Overvoltage and Undervoltage Protection: The BMS protects the
battery pack from overvoltage and undervoltage conditions. If the
voltage exceeds or falls below safe limits, the BMS can disconnect
the battery pack to prevent damage.
Overcurrent Protection: The BMS prevents excessive current flow
through the battery pack, protecting it from potential damage. It
can interrupt the current flow or limit it to a safe level.
Short Circuit Protection: The BMS detects and protects against
short circuits in the battery pack. It can quickly disconnect the
battery pack to prevent further damage.
Communication and Monitoring: Some BMS models offer communication
interfaces, such as UART, CAN, or Bluetooth, to enable monitoring
and control of the battery pack parameters. This allows integration
with external systems or display units.
